Snow White Returns in the Flesh

Disney is continuing its enthusiasm for live-action adaptations of its animated classics and is currently preparing a live-action version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs under the direction of Marc Webb. The feature film, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, among others, will tell the adventures of the dark-haired princess (Zegler) as she flees the kingdom to escape the hunter sent by her stepmother (Gadot) to kill her. On her flight, she encounters seven creatures who take her into their midst and with whom she finds comfort and a new way of life.

The First Image of the Remake Divides Opinion

In 2022, following a side comment by Peter Dinklage, Disney stated that the dwarfs in the live-action version of Snow White would be more like "magical creatures" so as not to hurt the feelings of people with dwarfism. This decision was heavily criticized by viewers, who were waiting to learn more about these "magical creatures".

At the end of October, the time had finally come: The first image from the live-action film "Snow White" shows what these "magical creatures" look like. And the least that can be said is that this first look divides the fans!

Snow White

In this first image, it can be seen that the seven creatures were created digitally and are not portrayed by real actors. While Doc (in the background to the left of Snow White) is easily recognizable, the others are not really true to the cartoon. It seems that Disney has opted for a mix of hobbits, elves, and dwarfs in computer-generated images. This was not to everyone's taste ...

Comments quickly appeared on the internet, most of which regretted Disney's decision to use special effects for these characters. The design was "ugly" and "not true to the cartoon".

Release Date Postponed by One Year

Although the film Snow White was originally planned for release in March 2024, it was ultimately postponed by one year and will now come to theaters in March 2025. This decision followed the strike that had paralyzed Hollywood for several months. While the screenwriters' strike has ended, the actors' strike is still ongoing, as no agreement could be reached with the studios.
